Last weekend we celebrated Gus turning 1. I think my invitation design possibly tempted fate as we woke up to heavy rain! So we scrapped the picnic idea and relocated to my obliging parents' house.
The food was very yummy - mainly because I was cheeky and made guests bring a plate (saving me from having a mental breakdown).
Despite appearances here (not convinced about the cake and singing), Gus loved his party! We invited close friends and family, so he knew everyone there and was happy cruising around and climbing onto various laps.
I couldn't help it - I made a rainbow cake. A celebration of food-dye, and no longer very original, but I've always wanted to make one!
It was such a lovely day, I know Gus won't remember it but I certainly shall. Happy birthday little man!
(I made Gus the little cake topper, inspired by a blog post I read ages ago. I love the idea of starting some birthday traditions, I remember how much I loved tradition as a child. This one was very easy, I just drilled a hole into an Ostheimer figure. Sorry wolf.)
