I haven't shared any photos of our house, mainly because it's still a complete shambles and it almost looks worse than when we bought it! (thanks to having to do all the boring expensive stuff like restump, replaster, replace weatherboards, etc which doesn't help make it look any prettier).
But just recently, we're actually getting somewhere. Mainly with the back garden. And thanks in large part, to one of our best mates Paul who is a landscaper (handy). So i think I can handle sharing some pictures!
1. This is how it looked when we first bought the place in June last year. That little shack is actually a little unit, that has a tenant - random! It's a celebration of asbestos and a total eyesore, but we like our tenant. But my, what a beautiful garden!
3. Missed a few photos between this and the last dammit.. But then we (by we I mean my husband) built this gabion wall. You basically buy the steel mesh cages, and fill them with rocks. We thought it'd be quick, but soon discovered it wasn't a case of just dumping the rocks in, they had to be hand placed to create a nice flat look, and that took FOREVER (I think about 4 months?). And more recently we started building a chicken coop in the back right corner!
So that's where we're at now. There's still more to do - finishing the chicken shed, putting gravel in all the paths, planting out, and one day that unit will go... There are stepped vegie boxes to the left, which I'm starting to fill with veggies, all the while frantically reading about how to do so.
But it's all such a massive improvement, we're spending so much time outside, it's bloody brilliant.
Gus loves it most. Here he is helping water the lawn. His expression sums up how I feel:
Enormous thanks to our friend Paul. He has a landscaping business he runs with his wife Mim who is also awesome. They have an awesome website.
