Just thought I'd show some pretty pictures for this friday...
When Tim and I were planning our wedding just over a year ago we didn't want to pay crazy money for professional flowers, cake, invitations or music, so we tried to do what we could ourselves, and asked friends and family to help us out with the rest. This was to save money of course, but it also made everything a bit more personal and special. I designed the invites, my aunt made the cake, Tim's colleague and friend was our celebrant, and some of his students played music for the ceremony.
When it came to the flowers, I asked my mum if she would like to do them - she loves flowers and always has a nice bunch in a vase in the kitchen. (I was thinking she could just buy some nice flowers and tie a ribbon around them). Mum was keen, and so too was her bestie Clare (my namesake), so much so that they both did a short floristry course (and had way too much fun even though the designs they had to do were ugly and they were repeatedly scolded for talking).

Zoë's bouquet top left, and bridesmaid bottom right. My bouquet bottom left. Liz's bouquet top right.
The bouquets and flower arrangements they created for our wedding were stunning - so beautiful, and completely surpassed any expectations I had.
As they had such a nice time and were keen to do more, and my friend Liz was next up to be married, mum and Clare did the flowers for her wedding too. Then my friend Zoë got hitched a few weeks ago, and she too called on mum and Clare's floristry services.

Top: Liz's table flowers. Clockwise from top left above: my bridesmaids' bouquets, Zoë's reception flowers, my reception table arrangements, Tim's buttonhole flowers.
Now friends of friends have seen mum and Clare's work and want to use them also! This could be the start of something...
Nice work mum, you are super clever xx
